Are you ready for God?
Millian WrappersHappy Birthday to Us!
It has been one year since Millian’s Prayer Wrap Ministry was developed and needles have been flying ever since. The group’s name is The Wrappers and, at this time, there are twenty-two industrious and talented women involved in making shawls, stoles, and lap quilts. Finished wraps are consecrated during worship services and are then delivered to individuals who are going through difficult times or are no longer able to be an active part of our church family. The wraps represent the love and support of the Millian congregation, a symbolic hug. In one short year, 60 wraps have been consecrated and 52 have been delivered or reserved for delivery. While stitching, the Wrappers pray for the individuals who will receive what they are making, even though they don’t know who the individual will be. The finished products are then brought to a Wrappers meeting where they receive the prayers and blessings of the group.
Another project that the Wrappers have developed is making and sending prayer squares to the military persons who are on our prayer list. The prayer squares are small pieces of cloth that have counted cross-stitch crosses on them. They can be put into a pocket or carried in a helmet by the receivers. They are sent with small pocket New Testament Bibles and cards of blessings and good wishes from the Millian congregation who is and will continue to pray for them during their deployment.
Anyone wishing to become a part of this ministry can call or e-mail Jann Dalrymple, (301-831-5780/ janndalr@comcast.net). Instruction is available for anyone who wishes to learn to knit, crochet, quilt or cross stitch.
Names of potential receivers can be placed in an offering plate, turned into the church office or given to any Wrapper or Stephen Minister.
