Notes From The Library
Your Church Library Is Growing
A plea went out for you to share interesting, exciting, information, spiritual and timely books with your church family. As a result, our Young Adult and Children’s sections have increased tremendously thanks to Edith Williams who now has a lot more room in her home library because of this generous donation to us. To others who have contributed anonymously, we are excited about unwrapping all these goodies.
If you have questions and would like to find out more about your library, please contact your library staff.

A Visit to Your Library
This is a new column which will provide brief “blurbs” about material in the Millian Memorial Library. We hope this will enable you to find items of interest and help. We would appreciate hearing from you about any of the books that you have found especially helpful, enjoyable, or just fun to read.
Noah Built His Ark in the Sunshine by James W. Moore notes that in building the ark in advance of the storm Noah was prepared to face the floodwaters that came. He didn’t wait until the last minute. But how do we get to the place where we can praise God whatever comes, and thank God in everything? That kind of faith and spiritual maturity doesn’t just happen. We have to grow it! And as we do, our gratitude will deepen and our faith will grow. [Located in the Christian Experience, Inspirational section – marked with a dark green circle.]
A Plain Account of Christian Perfection is a foundational text by John Wesley. Emphasizing the “perfect love” that springs from holiness, the text laid the groundwork for the personal, transforming spirituality of contemporary Christianity. His thoughts continue to inspire us today. [Located in the UM History/John Wesley section – marked with an orange circle.]
Places of Promise, Finding Strength in Your Congregation’s Location by Cynthia Woolever and Deborah Bruce, test assumptions about the role of location determining the vitality achieved by congregations. They tell us how churches can achieve strength when their ministry focus and leadership decisions are tailored to the community. [Located in the Government/Administration section – marked with a lavender square.]
