Are you ready for God?

Stephen Ministry

SEPTEMBER~ Eva May Young ~

September tip-toed in last night,
Summer soon will end,
The children are back in school,
Joking with their friends.

Vacation time is over,
Work is the name of the game,
But what wonderful memories,
We will later proclaim.

September is a lovely time of year,
And in her pastel shaded dress,
She dances on cooler breezes,
Each hill and valley to caress.

It's the beginning of the harvest,
Where the corn and taters grow,
Fields of grain and apple trees
And the cawing of the crow.

Sumac and golden rod a’ blooming
In meadowlands every where,
With purple asters, and buttercups
A meld of rich colors rare.

An occasional foggy morning,
Or a misty afternoon,
With it's mild breezes,
Dancing to September's tune.

O Lord, Of the Universe,
I thank you for this time of year,
As we work our way toward winter,
With friends and family dear.

September is delightfully different,
She leaves us with a smile,
To await her return next year,
To visit us again for awhile.

Here we are in the last quarter of the year! It seems like a starting point in some respects. Our children and grandchildren and sometimes we adults, are starting a new school year. Excitement, anticipation and sometimes fear can accompany these starts. It is the beginning of many sports on both the professional and amateur levels. Many homes are abuzz with talk of whom the starting players will be. There is also the mumbled fear of being cut from the team.

There is a lot work to be done. Putting away the summer gear, pulling out the fall and winter tools can keep us busy for the entire month. Don’t forget we have to accomplish all of this as the hours of daylight are lessening and the temperature is dipping. Many of us have to get all of this done and still go to work, keep our homes in order and keep our children on schedule too!

Whoa! It seems like a lot! If it seems like it’s too much to keep up with, if it seems like you need someone to help share your burdens, it seems like you could use a Stephen Minister. Our Stephen Ministers are ready to help get you through trying these times. They are equipped to deal with stressful situations. Each Stephen Minister has had fifty hours of specialized training that have given them the tools that they need to walk with you through the storm. Every Stephen Minister also brings a unique combination of gifts, personality and character that makes them especially suited to fill this Christ caring ministry.

September is a lovely time of year. Please don’t let the stress in life get in the way of enjoying this beautiful time of year. I encourage you to let a Stephen Minister help you get through this season of change. It may be the best autumn you will ever experience!

With Christ’s caring love,

Dawn Kelley
